"My Boyfriend"

I have been seeing my boyfriend for a little over a year and we live together. I recently found out that he has been going onto free dating website to meet people. I confronted him about it and he said it was something he did when he was bored. Me being the paranoid person that I am did some digging around. I discovered that he has been seeking the attention of people online since he was 15. I believe he has had sexual relations with people from the internet since that time as well, male and female. I also discovered that he has had a relationship with a much older man online since he was 15 as well. I dont know if they ever met in person though. Since I have confronted him about the dating websites he has stopped going on them for the most part. But I think that is mostly due to the fact that he no longer has his own computer and must use mine now. But I do think he is trying to find ways to continue to do it and keep me from finding out.

My question is does this seem like signs of someone who may have been abused as a child? It doesnt seem normal for me that a 15 year old boy would seek the attention from older men. I can understand the fact that at 16 boys are discovering sex and want to experience everything and that maybe he was confused about his sexual orientation. I need help on how to approach this situation with him because I don't know if it is my place to drag up old memories that he may not be ready to face. But if he really doesn't have an deeply rooted issues and he is just a jerk then I need to stop wasting my time with him. I truly care about him and can see myself spending the rest of my life with him and if he does have problems then I really want to help him.
